Is giving an peony flower nice or naughty?

A story I have been told, about 3 girls getting ready for a dance. The boys arrive and give the girls big pink flowers with the sweetest powdery smell. One of the boys giggled nervously, but without much notice.

Will grow and BLOOM in the same location for several decades.

If you decide to transplant, I’ve heard September and October is the best time.

At the dance on of the girls screamed. Ants were crawling out of her flower.

Some Peony flower varieties have a very dense buds (tightly held together with a lot of peddles)

and make a nectar which attracts ants.

As the ants go in and out of the closed buds trying to get to the ideal food source of

amino acids, water and sugar, it helps the bud open.

The Boys at the dance apologized to their dates, for knowing the flowers would have ants. It may have been naughty to give a girl this flower, but one day, one of there couples married and the story lives on in a happy memory.

The ants will not stay on the bush all summer, as the nectar is not continually produced. The ants will move on to another food source. Some say the Peony flower bud will open with or without ants.
